We stayed with other family members to attend a nearby family function & we found the hotel absolutely fine. Our room was spotlessly clean & we found the staff friendly & welcoming. The bar area was nicely busy with locals & the breakfast was good. Our room, at the front, did have a balcony but we didn't take advantage of it or leave the patio doors open mainly due to the passing traffic noise from the nearby dual-carriageway but this is hardly the hotels fault, just an observation. I had been apprehensive about our visit, having called when passing a couple of months earlier with a room query & wasn't impressed with the staff member I dealt with but all staff were excellent during our stay.

Loved everything. We were in a band competition at Rainton Arena, and this was the closest hotel. They couldn't do enough for us. How on the day of travel I added another person to my booking so have to change from a double to a triple, no trouble at all. Bedrooms beautiful and clean, fab shower. The beds were so comfortable, woke up refreshed. Beautiful breakfast done perfect. ALL staff, from Charlee in Reception, who I'd been talking to on the phone, all the bar staff, waitresses, (chefs, you food was amazing). When we're back up to our first competition in April 2024, this is where we'll be staying from now on. Loved our stay. Thank you so much for your amazing hospitality. XXX

The room was very spacious for the kids to wonder around and have their own space. The kitchen facilities were great. This helped with storing food away and helped to keep the kids away from hot drinks. Having two separate rooms meant that the kids could entertain themselves watching TV in one room and I could relax watching TV in the next room. The balconies had amazing views, especially as the sun set and would be great to sit out in the summer. It was made of concrete and very safe for young children. The beds were spacious and the room was quiet with it being next to a main road.

The facilities at the Highfield were excellent. We had a lovely size room with a huge bed. Lift was convenient and easy access. It was very clean and tidy throughout. Bathroom had a great shower with strong water pressure . The area was nice and quiet , wifi coverage was fab. Balcony area was a nice touch . Breakfast was tasty and the staff were very polite and approachable.

Location was ideal for visiting my son who lived nearby as well as easy access to Durham and transport links to Newcastle, the room was a good size, clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was ok, lots of choice but we did notice a couple of people had burnt items on their plates. We ate in the bar on our second night and it was good value and food was nice.
